Position: Professor and chairman of the Department of Pathology of the Comenius University
Jessenius Medical Faculty in Martin, Slovakia and head of the National Consultation Centre
for Haematopathology of Slovak Rep. President of the Slovak Division of the International
Academy of Pathology. Member of the Executive Committee of the Slovak Lymphoma
Study Group. Main expert of the Ministery of Health of the Slovak Rep. for Pathology. Past
president of the Scientific Board of the Ministery of Health in Slovakia (2005–2008), now
member of the board.
Professional activities – coordinator of following centralized national programmes in
Slovakia: Centralized biopsy diagnosis of haematooncological disorders (malignant
lymphomas, leukemias, MPN, MDS – since 1985). HER2 testing in breast cancer in Slovakia
(since 2003). Biopsy diagnosis of GIST-s and NET-s in Slovakia (since 2005). Biopsy diagnosis
of renal cell carcinoma (since 2008). K-ras, N-ras and BRAF testing in colorectal cancer
(member of the board of the programme and leader of one of the three involved regional
centers in Slovakia)

Main scientific activities and participation in the scientific projects: Oncological pathology
and molecular pathology of tumours. Haematopathology, malignant lymphomas and
leukemias, myleoproliferative and myelodysplastic syndromes. Principle investigator and/
or co-author of many grant-supported projects of VEGA agency, KEGA agency, of Ministery
of Health of Slovakia, etc. National coordinator of the EU programme COST MPN&MPNr-
EuroNet, COST action BM0902 (since 2010 up to now). National coordinator of the Program
of the European Comission programme MEDINE – Thematic Network for Medical Education
in Europe No. 114063-CP-1-2004 - UK – Erasmus – TNPP (2004–2007). Co-investigator and
co-garant of the Centrum of the Excellence in Perinatology I. and II., Molecular Diagnostiscs
of HPV in Cervical Cancer and Bio Med Martin( ITMS code 26220120016, 26220120036,
26220220113 and 26220220187, since 2009 up to now). Participant – responsible national
representative - pathologist in different EORTC clinical studies.
Summary of the scientific work results: 8 scientific monographies, 4 teaching textbook
for the undergraduate students, 229 scientific papers in extenso, 789 citations, repeatedly
invited speaker at European and World congresses of Pathology, member of the Editoria
Board of the following scientific journals in Czech and Slovak Rep.: Czech and Slovak Journal
of Pathology (Prague, Czech Rep.), Acta Medica (Hradec Králové, Czech Rep.), Onkológia
(Bratislava, Slovak Rep.), Acta Medica Martiniana (Martin, Slovak Rep.).
